Nature Book Club – Origins: How Earth's History Shaped Human History
Monday, June 3; 7 - 8 p.m.
(in person at the Oregon Ridge Nature Center Library or Pavilion)
How did the physical world shape the history of our species? Lewis Dartnell focuses on how the earth itself determined our destiny, not the political and population aspects of things in human history. Our planet wobbles, driving changes in climate that forced the transition from nomadism to farming. The deep imprint of the planetary on the human is everywhere. From cultivation of the first crops to the founding of modern States, Origins: How the Earth's History Shaped Human History reveals the breathtaking impact of the earth beneath our feet on the shape of our human civilizations.
